SIU CARBONDALE PERCUSSION

At Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Dr. Christopher Butler oversees all aspects of the percussion curriculum including applied lessons with graduate and undergraduate percussion majors, percussion pedagogy, percussion literature, and percussion methods.

As the director of the SIU Percussion Ensemble, a premier chamber ensemble within the SIU School of Music, Dr. Butler conducts contemporary works for chamber percussion.

In addition, Dr. Butler also works closely with the SIU Marching Salukis Drumline and writes all of their music including exercises, cadences, and shows.

Dr. Butler also teaches several courses in Music Technology including Computers & Music and Audio Engineering I.

In 2020, Dr. Butler was awarded with the Teaching Innovation Grant from the College of Liberal Arts to aid in the creation of a new course in music video production.
